The 9th Annual Conference of the Asian Society for Artificial Joints (ASIA 2023)

From July 21 to 23, 2023, the ninth Annual Conference of the Asian Artificial Joint Society (ASIA 2023) was held in Qianhai, Shenzhen, where nearly 100 experts from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the United States gathered to show and share new discoveries, new technologies and new achievements in the field of joint replacement, and seek a common plan for the development of artificial intelligence orthopedics.

After nearly a hundred years of development, artificial joint replacement is now considered by the medical community as one of the most successful surgical operations, and has become an effective surgical method for the treatment of various end-stage joint diseases. In recent years, with the vigorous development of digital innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, surgical robots, big data, and 3D printing in the field of orthopedics, joint surgery is moving from the era of artificial experience to the era of artificial intelligence, showing trends such as digitalization, precision, minimally invasive, and personalized.

With the academic theme of "Digital Orthopedics" as the core, lecturers from 8 countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and the United States, came to Shenzhen to discuss cases and demonstrate operations. Focusing on topics such as "robot-assisted joint replacement technology", "Application of artificial intelligence technology in the diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases", "advanced technology in joint replacement", "new products and related technologies for Hip Joint revision", and sharing their highly professional and cutting-edge theories.

The Congress has set up 17 academic sessions, covering the latest orthopaedic clinical and scientific research knowledge, demonstrating and sharing new discoveries, new technologies and new results in the field of joint replacement. At the same time, the ASIA special robot exhibition area has attracted a number of international leading bone and joint robot enterprises to "compete".

At the meeting, the doctor training program of the Asian Artificial Joint Society was officially launched, and the clinical training center of the Southern Medical University of Shenzhen Hospital of the Asian Artificial Joint Society was simultaneously listed. According to reports, the orthopedics department of Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University is a key discipline in Shenzhen, and the joint reconstruction technology of joint surgery in the Orthopedics Center has a dominant position in Shenzhen and even the whole country, and Professor Wu Yaoping, a master of joint surgery, has been introduced as the discipline leader. He created his own percutaneous small needle knife release of gluteal contracture and first proposed the concept of non-replacement joint reconstruction in China. After coming to Shenzhen, he carried out "folding man" hip joint reconstruction and four-joint simultaneous replacement surgery and other difficult joint surgical techniques, providing international standard medical services for patients with difficult and severe joint diseases.
